Moved to Pierrefonds

In July 1991, we purchased a house in Pierrefonds, Quebec for $137,000.  It was a cottage-style house. It had 4 bedrooms upstairs, so each child had their own room. Our backyard was facing the schoolyard and soccer fields. The school was a French immersion Elementary school, and it would be where the children would be going. My daughter was entering Grade 3, and my 1st son would be in Grade 1. It was an adjustment because they were both in a French school before this. He enjoyed the fact that he could understand everything they were saying. Still, he missed many of the basics, especially phonics, while in French kindergarten. My daughter adjusted fairly quickly, but we spent much more time doing homework than the average kid in her class.

It was a great neighbourhood with a lot of kids. The street we lived on was also on a cul-de-sac, so there was less traffic. This house did not have a swimming pool, so we joined the Pool, which was the local private pool. The membership fees were very reasonable, and it gave the kids the opportunity to make new friends. They also gave swimming lessons, which the kids both took. The youngest took lessons once he was old enough.

I was very happy living in the West Island of Montreal because most of the kid’s activities were nearby. I spent a lot of time driving when we lived in Pincourt.

With time, the kids were all very active in different sports.
