Our first home
In October 1980, we purchased our 1st home in Pincourt, Quebec. It was a nice 5-year-old bungalow with 3 bedrooms. I think we paid around 35,000 $. I note this because prices have increased so much in the past 42 years. The same house would cost at least $250,000 now. We lived there for 11 years. We sold it for 105,000 $ in 1991. The 1st person who came to visit it bought it. I said it was because I kept the wood floors so shiny.
After we were married, I decided to leave my job at Honda. My boss, had just opened a new Suzuki dealership and asked me to join him as the controller. The new dealership was in Ile Perrot, only a 10-minute drive from Pincourt.
I didn’t work very long for him because he wanted me to falsify the accounting numbers, which I was unwilling to do, so I left. I stayed home for a few weeks and was bored, so I waxed the floor. They were so nice, but poor David fell down the stairs because they were very slippery. I knew at that point that it was time to find another job! I got a job at Pentagon Pharmaceuticals, a branch of Berlex/ Owned Subsidiary of Schering AG in Germany. I enjoyed my time there. I became pregnant with our 1st child, so I left the company when I was approaching my delivery date.
